Aragon entsteht im Ruhrgebiet um Gitarrist Stefan Surbir. Mit Marco Mende am Bass, Frank Rowley an den Drums und Dieter Marquardt an den Keyboards formt sich die erste stabile Besetzung. Aragon is formed in Germany’s Ruhr area around guitarist Stefan Surbir. With Marco Mende on bass, Frank Rowley on drums and Dieter Marquardt on keyboards, the first stable line-up comes together.
Mit Alexander Krienke nimmt Aragon ihre ersten Demos und Promos auf – die erste Promo-CD Decending Eternity. Es folgt das Album Eternal Quest mit Matthias Schmitt. Später folgt ein dritter Gang ins Studio, aber die drei Songs mit Steve Woods am Gesang werden nie veröffentlicht. Wie viele Underground-Bands verliert sich Aragon zunächst zwischen Beruf, Alltag und neuen Projekten. Einzelne Mitglieder bleiben in anderen Bands oder Cover-Projekten musikalisch aktiv, die Band selbst ruht aber über viele Jahre. Like many underground bands, Aragon is initially lost between jobs, everyday life and new projects. Some members remain musically active in other bands or cover projects, but the band itself is dormant for many years.
Mit Stefan Surbir an der Gitarre und Henrik Niesler am Schlagzeug kehrt Aragon als Studioprojekt zurück. Neue Songs kombinieren den Geist der frühen Tage mit moderner Produktion – mit Gastsängern wie Steve Woods, der an die ursprüngliche Ära anknüpft.
